Amrit temple, which is the temple of
the god Melkart
(Hercules)
the god of health and strength who cures from
diseases. The temple has an obvious Phoenician
touch that carved in the rocks and has a pool,
in the middle of this pool the temple
cella/naos
of Melkart
is located. |

The Stadium
is located about 200 meters from the temple,
its dimensions 230x 30 are similar to the
stadium in Greece. The sportive games used to
take place in it during the religious rituals
to glorify the god Melkart
(Hercules). |
A
gutter in a shape of a lion’s head,
water streams through its channel and then it
is poured down from its mouth, ends up in the
temple pool. An amount of gutters used to be
held to the channels on the temple walls, and
the water used to be poured down in its pool. |

The stadium
is carved in the rocks and has seven stairs
and can contain more than 10000 people. The
studies refer that this
stadum is older than the Olympic
stadium in Greece. |

Al- Maghazel
(spindles)
are called like this by the local inhabitants
according to the glorious of their memorial,
under them are the graves
of kings or rich people
from Amrit.
We notice two kinds: the pyramidal to the
right and domical to the left.

profile lions of the Persian style. |

stairs and a small space, which inside it is
located vaults. |

A vault
(family tomb) of two
layers, consists of an entrance, hall and 22
chambers. The entrance can be closed and by
pulling a door up by a dragrope. In the
picture we see in the door the frieze of the
dragrope, which appears as carved arch with
two holes from above. |

(for 33 corpes). Its entrance can be
closed by pulling the door up by a dragrope.
These vaults are located in the area of Azar
cemeteries in Amrit. |

port: a fictile cover can close a channel with
a frieze. The existence of the covered
channels refers to the developing civilization
that Amrit reached to. |
